Our fussy newborn NEEDED to be swaddled to get any sleep. This contraption was a life saver, since both my husband and I are horrible at swaddling with a blanket. Our baby out-grew it length-wise around a month and a half (could no longer really straighten her legs). And the next size up is way bigger so we had to switch to the miracle blanket, which seems to keep a tighter swaddle, but is more complicated.

The Halo sleepsack swaddle is a convenient way to swaddle and put the baby back to sleep after a 2AM or 3AM diaper change, but my baby boy has been able to break out of the sleepsack with the velcro wraps on numerous occasions. With his arms free my baby is able to fling his arms around and wake himself up in his sleep. I have had more success with using a standard swaddle blanket using a swaddle technique which I learned at the McMoyler Method baby care class. The other drawback with the sleepsack is while doing laundry, the velcro tends to want to attach itself to everything in the wash even if it is placed in a lingerie laundry bag. Can be a hassle/time consuming to either hand wash or wash the velcro wraps seperately from the baby laundry.

When my first was little she hated to be swaddled. All my friends babies loved the swaddle feature. I'm expecting my next baby any day now and received the blanket as a gift. It's perfect!!! I love the fact that you can take the swaddle feature on or off. That way the baby has a choice and if he/she doesn't like the swaddle they can still use the awesome blanket to keep him/her cuddly and warm and safe. Did I mention I love the pattern too. The dots are great:)
